Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and Next Frame Media LLC (“we”, “us”), which makes the app. By using the app or this website you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

What the app does and doesn’t

The app reads a pet food’s barcode or label and shows a score from 0 to 100, a colour band, the main concerns and strengths, recall information and, if you add a pet, notes on how the food fits that pet.

Informational, not veterinary advice.

• The app does not diagnose, treat or prevent any illness, and it does not replace your vet. Talk to your vet before changing the diet of a pet with a health condition.
• Scores are our opinions. They are built from the facts printed on a label using the method we publish on How we score. Another method could rate the same food differently.
• Product data can be incomplete or out of date, and a manufacturer can change a recipe without changing the barcode. Always check the label on the bag in your hand.
• Recall information comes from public U.S. Food and Drug Administration notices. We may miss or be late with a recall. Always follow the official notice and the manufacturer’s instructions.

Your account

• You start as a guest. The app creates an anonymous profile on your phone; no email or password is needed.
• You can add an email address or Sign in with Apple to keep your pets and history when you change phones. This is optional.
• You are responsible for what happens under your profile on your devices.
• You can delete your data at any time in the app: open Me and tap “Delete my data”.

Premium subscriptions

• Premium costs $29.99 a year after a 7-day free trial, or $4.99 a month. Prices may differ by country and are shown in the app before you buy.
• If you start the free trial and do not cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, the yearly subscription begins and you are charged.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
• You buy and manage Premium through Apple’s App Store or Google Play. Cancel in your Apple or Google subscription settings. Deleting the app or your data does not cancel a subscription.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. We cannot issue refunds for store purchases ourselves.
• If we change the price, we will tell you in advance, and the store will ask for your consent where required.
• What is free today stays free. We will not move a feature from the free plan to Premium.

Acceptable use

Do not:

• misuse the app or its servers, try to get around limits, or access data that is not yours;
• copy, scrape or resell scores, explanations or other content from the app in bulk;
• upload photos that are not of pet food labels, or that contain other people’s personal information;
• send false error reports or use the app to break the law.

We may limit or end access for anyone who does.

Our content and third-party data

The app, its scores, explanations, ingredient notes and design belong to us. You may use them for your own pets and share score cards with others.

Some product data comes from Open Pet Food Facts and is available under the Open Database License (ODbL). That data stays under the ODbL, and your rights to it are set by that licence, not by these terms.

When you photograph a label or send an error report, you give us permission to use what you sent to add or correct product data, including sharing the product facts (not your photo or your identity) with the open database Open Pet Food Facts. Label photos are deleted as soon as they have been read, and in any case within 24 hours. Only the text we extract is kept.

Disclaimers and limits

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties about accuracy, availability or fitness for a particular purpose, and we are not responsible for decisions about your pet’s food or health that you make using the app.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim about the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50, whichever is greater. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Changes and ending

We may update the app and these terms. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app or on this page before it takes effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new terms.

You can stop using the app at any time and delete your data in the app. We may suspend or end the service; if we end it, we will give notice where we can.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
